An important aspect of “training” for us is free time for our dogs, just letting them run, play, sniff and enjoy life. There’s a lot of joy to be had in being a dog.
We received an Office Hours question about this, a writer asking, how much what our dogs time off sheep looks like.
We thought a great way to give context to that was a wee video. Only about 30 seconds long, it provides a good window into our walks, which we do 4-6 times a day.
While there is a certain level of training intermixed (a recall, not them run into each other, etc.) our walks are pointedly about not controlling and letting them have fun.
An integral part in our method is the developing the bond, which includes allowing them to be themselves—
Our dogs play, have toys, all puppies and many dogs live in the house, jump on the furniture and absolutely, as Cappy illustrated many times on social media, a dog can sleep in the bed and be a National Champion!
yay, if there's a video request you have for novice dogs or other, please let me know!
very sorry for delay in reply, I tried in Scotland and couldnt get it right, my apologies; we're back! If…
If there's another aspect of training you'd like to see for sensitive dogs, please let us know!
This is a fantastic video!!! Sure wish I would have saw this when I started..
I love the ending when you say she will let me know when she’s ready for the next step. Brilliant.
