A Chat with legendary handler, Tommy Wilson

Tommy has won more trials than I can recount, including Meeker, Soldier Hollow and the Bluegrass. He’s also been US Reserve National Champion several times. In addition to an excellent handler and trainer, he’s a true sportsman with a fantastic sense of humor.

During his time in Scotland he spent competed against legends including Wiston Cap, Gilchrist’s Spot, Davey Mctier, Tom Watson and many more. It was an amazing 90 minute visit for me, I wish I could have included it all!

Tommy is especially well known for his ability with young dogs and in this chat, I ask him for his secret. He also talks about the great dogs of olde, gives a piece of advice for handlers of all levels, anecdotes about his brother, Scottish National Champion Jim Wislon, his opinion on how the dogs have changed over the years and the truth about that time at Meeker, when he illuminated the crowd to his unusual riding technique!
